What this treatment does
- Replaces years of shaving, waxing, and ingrown hairs
- Front and back of both legs treated in one visit
- Works well on the coarse hair most people have below the knee
- Can be split into lower legs only if you prefer to start smaller
Full legs covers ankle to upper thigh, front and back, on both legs. It is the largest area we treat and takes about 45 minutes with our high-speed diode handpiece, which glides over the skin in overlapping passes rather than stamping pulse by pulse.
Leg hair grows more slowly than underarm or bikini hair, so sessions are spaced further apart — usually 6 to 8 weeks. That means a full course runs closer to nine or ten months than six. Planning around a summer is easier if you start in autumn.
If the budget or the time commitment is the sticking point, start with lower legs. Below the knee is where most of the visible hair is, and you can add thighs later at the package rate.
Before your session
Shave both legs completely 12–24 hours before. A large area with patchy stubble takes longer and treats less evenly.
No waxing, threading, or epilating for four weeks. No self-tan for two weeks, and no sunbed at any point during your course — artificial melanin in the skin absorbs laser energy that should be going into the follicle.
After your session
Redness and follicular bumps settle within a few hours to a day. Moisturise with something unscented, and use SPF 50 on any part of your legs that will see sun for the next two weeks.
For 48 hours: no hot baths, saunas, hot tubs, swimming pools, or intense exercise. Shedding begins around day 7–14; gentle exfoliation from day 7 helps and reduces the chance of ingrown hairs.
Questions about full leg laser hair removal
How long does a full leg session take?
About 45 minutes for both legs, front and back. Lower legs alone take around 25 minutes.
Can I shave between laser sessions?
Yes — shaving is the only hair removal method you should use during a course. It cuts the hair at the surface and leaves the follicle intact, which is exactly what the laser needs to target next time. Waxing, plucking, threading, and epilating all remove the root and will set your course back.
Why are leg sessions spaced further apart than underarms?
Hair on the legs spends longer in its resting phase, so it takes 6 to 8 weeks for enough follicles to re-enter the active growth phase that the laser can actually destroy. Coming in earlier does not speed the course up — it just treats fewer live follicles.
